Esther 4:14
“…And who knows but that you have come to your
royal position for such a time as this?”
Have you ever considered how one simple decision, one choice to say “Yes” to an opportunity God has placed in front of you may radically alter the course of your life?
Over the past few weeks God has reminded me of the importance of saying “Yes” to the opportunities He places in front of us. After all, we never know what one seemingly simple “Yes” can turn into.
This past week I had the opportunity to attend training in Oklahoma City for my new role as a Senior Leadership Consultant with GiANT Worldwide. Throughout the training, God continually confirmed to me that I was exactly where I was supposed to be. As I sat and reflected on how I first came to learn of GiANT last April and the course my life is now on, I could not help escape the fact that it all began over coffee…as so many great things do!
You see, last April at the recommendation of my Pastor, I reached out to a contact at another local church to inquire about their career transition ministry and how I might be of assistance. Through my meeting with the head of the program, GiANT Worldwide was briefly mentioned; however brief, the mention of GiANT set the wheels in motion for what has become my new reality; a reality I never would have been able to orchestrate on my own. While I did not think having coffee to discuss a career ministry was anything too life changing in the moment, it has turned out to be just that!
Consider this, whether you choose to say “Yes” to the opportunities God puts in front of you could be more significant than you realize.
It may seem the step He is asking you to take is no big deal, that is is inconsequential if you say “Yes” or “No,” but remember, you have no idea what God may be up to behind the scenes. He may have more than you can ask, think, or imagine in store if you simply say “Yes” and follow where He leads. But you know what? If you decide not to take that first step, you will never find out.
The book of Esther tells the story of, you guessed it, Esther, a beautiful young Jewish woman who risked her life to serve God and save her people. While I would encourage you to read the book in its entirety, it is only 10 chapters, perhaps the most well known verse from the Book is Esther 4:14 in which Esther’s cousin Mordecai said to her, “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
Esther had a choice, she could either say “Yes” to the opportunity that was in front of her and boldly approach King Ahasuerus, literally taking her life into her hands, or she could allow the moment to pass and avoid the risk all together. Esther chose option one and through her decision, God saved the Jewish people, and thus we read about her today. The story of Esther illustrates how God can use one decision to say “Yes” in ways beyond what we can imagine.
What opportunity, small or large is in front of you today? Your decision matters.
God may have more in store for you than you can ask, think, or imagine. Your personal such a time as this may be on the other side of your “Yes.” Like Esther, are you willing to say “Yes” and find out? Let me encourage you today, simply say, “Yes!”
